The silhouettes of the Far East have long inspired Giorgio Armani, and his love affair with that culture continues as Alasdair McLellan shot this year’s fall ad campaign in Tokyo. Models Anna De Rijk, Tao Okamoto, Paolo Anchisi, and Alfred Kovac are shown posing in the midst of the cityscape at night, brightly lit billboards, and blazing neon signs made up of Japanese characters.
“Another striking campaign by Emporio Armani,” anlabe32 commended. “I'm loving the setting, no dull white backgrounds but a ‘real’ atmosphere and cultural aspects. So far Alasdair McLellan and Emporio Armani are a match made in heaven.”
Elfinkova loved that the ads featured an Asian model. “Tao's shot is hands down the best,” he wrote. “Love the Tokyo at night theme.”
TeeVanity also piled on the accolades, “Superb! Now this is a campaign. Fantastic model cast, great styling and a wonderful theme. Thumbs up for Emporio Armani.”
The ads look good, and the campaign is well executed, but am I the only one who is more drawn to the menswear than the women’s clothing? I would love to wear both of these men’s outfits exactly as they are, but the women's ensembles aren't really moving me. At all.
