“Who are these people?” sore asked when she saw W’s latest cover. The answer? Actress Brit Marling and actor Eddie Redmayne. They are, along with Emayatzy Corinealdi, “The New Guard: Hollywood’s Freshest Faces.” Their faces may be “fresh” but Brit looks astonishingly like Lana del Rey in the cover shot (by Alasdair McLellan) and – it has to be said – W really just needs to stop with these couples covers because they are not working.
“I hate Brit's expression, it looks like Eddie is holding her hostage,” TREVOFASHIONISTO commented.
BonesAndOil wrote, “I love both of them, and it's about time Brit got some recognition, but this cover is horrible. Both of their faces, why?”
Luxx was actually a fan of the editorial that accompanied the cover image and saw a missed opportunity. “I may be alone in this, but for me Emayatzy Corinealdi is the best thing about the story and I would have LOVED to see her on the cover. I love Brit Marling as well, but the camera is in love with Emayatzy. Love the hair and styling on this, these images have a beautiful atmosphere,” she added.
“Why would they have a featured editorial with three actors but only put two of them on the cover?” loladonna asked, bringing to mind the recent discussion about diversity on the runways. Could the same sort of bias be at play here?
Not your best effort, W.
