Celebrities shift issues off newsstands, whether we like it or not. They also generate a huge amount of buzz whenever they release a magazine cover via social media. Katy Perry debuted her ELLE cover this week via Instagram and earlier today, Rihanna treated her 14.7 million followers to the March cover of Harper’s Bazaar. The cover was immediately brought over to our forums for discussion, which shows the “FourFiveSeconds” singer glowing in natural sunlight shot by Norman Jean Roy. But this isn’t your average fashion shoot; Rihanna swam with sharks during the sitting. Yes, really.
Our forum members were quick to descend on the thread to voice their opinions. “She looks beautiful. Eye-catching cover,” wrote KINGofVERSAILLES, getting us off on a positive note.
“This is so gorgeous. Love the entire thing, even the slightly odd pose!!” ohmycolin added.
Also feeling it was Lola701: “I like that all her covers are very different. She’s very versatile! I’m ready for the Rihanna season. I’m tired of those Kardashians everywhere. I don’t mind seeing Rihanna in all covers as long as there’s no Kardashian.”
But things soon turned sour. “Another tacky cover from US Bazaar,” disapproved MDNA.
Forum member t-rex declared: “This magazine is SO bad. White spaces, Terry Richardson, awful articles and who-cares writers (such as Michael Douglas’ ex wife and Rita Wilson) and poor production value. It needs someone new to revamp it and if not, close it!”
“Tacky! This is not Maxim…” slammed poison84.
