After the British edition of Vogue received dismal reviews for its July cover with Stella Tennant, Harper’s Bazaar brings us sunshine and flowers to help make up for it. A youthful Alexa Chung graces the cover while on location at an 18th-century manor in the English countryside, looking terrific wearing an embroidered tulle top and skirt by Simon Rocha on the subscribers’ cover (pictured right). On the newsstand cover (left), the current face of Longchamp wears a dress from Burberry Prorsum.
Forum members flocked to the thread once the covers surfaced. “Wow, I quite like this, especially the setting. It’s the season for hydrangeas after all. Glad to see David Slijper back at HB U.K.,” Benn98 appreciated.
“Oooh now this is lovely! Really pretty image, I really like it a lot. Harper’s Bazaar U.K. always [does] a great job with Alexa, UK Vogue should take notes because every shoot they’ve done with her has been dreadful,” LastNight added.
In agreement was justaguy who hailed: “Very beautiful cover!”
Emmanuelle also showed the subscribers’ cover some love, writing, “I love the picture in the boat ! The angle is nice and the background is incredible ! Very very pretty. The newsstand cover is cool too, but the makeup is not very good I think.”
“The picture on the boat is just so lovely, I love it!” raved Zelda Zonk.
“Not what I expected when I clicked to open this thread. It’s a lovely, evocative photo and it’s perfect for a July cover. My only issue with it is that the hand placement combined with her mouth being slightly open makes it look a bit like she’s biting her nails. Aside from that, it really is a very pretty cover,” shared KINGofVERSAILLES.
