Admit it, you haven’t exactly been enthralled by the July covers of your favorite magazines. Vogue Netherlands is trying to offer a bit of excitement by handing Dutch beauty Nimue Smit her first-ever Vogue cover (hard to believe after she got her big break starring in a Prada campaign back in 2009). Nimue was photographed by Marc de Groot, wearing a Philipp Plein dress for the occasion. We guess it’s better late than never and thankfully, it’s a strong cover.
Our new July/August issue is here! With @NimueSmit on the cover in @PhilippPleinInternational we present you our Hot Summer Style issue with the 10 trends of the new season, exclusive interviews and the best travel beauty trends for the summer. In stores June 23rd – also in iTunes & Google Play – and with our suscribers tomorrow! Photography @DeMarcdeGroot styling @MarijeGoekoop_VogueNL hair & make-up @IrenaRuben #VogueSummer
Our critical forum members weren’t so sure at first. “It’s boring, it’s nothing,” declared HeatherAnne.
“Probably one of their better covers this year, but I loathe the dress. Must they write ‘new season’ with capitals, especially when in a sentence? I don’t recall this being the rule,” replied Benn98.
Soon, forum members became more receptive. “Nice to see Nimue featured on the cover, it’s nice,” noted justaguy.
GlamVal showed his support and admiration, too. “Beautiful cover, everything is peeerfect,” he enthused.
“So happy for her and I think this is Vogue Netherlands’ best cover yet,” hailed KateTheGreatest.
“This is actually one of the best covers they’ve produced since they started. I love it. It just works. It’s fresh. Summery. And it’s sexy. Very very sultry,” agreed a satisfied MON.
Forum member littlekiki echoed the same sentiments, writing, “So happy for Nimue, she deserved a Vogue cover way earlier than this!”
