Like clockwork, our Cover Rumor Thread became the hub of discussion debating just who was about to surface on Vogue‘s anticipated July 2015 cover. Names like Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway and Emma Stone were thrown around, but Cara Delevingne won the coveted role. The model turned actress posed alone on the cover, having already fronted the September 2014 issue with her peers. This time around, Patrick Demarchelier captured the British beauty sporting a Prada dress selected by Tonne Goodman.
What do our forum members think of Cara’s presence? “Great to see a model on that cover! However, she looks very young … like a 14 year old,” DutchHomme said.
“They have styled her very young, but perhaps that’s a very deliberate move to broaden their reach. Also, the chances are as a celebrity rather than a model, she appeals to a much younger demographic than the usual Vogue reader,” replied honeycombchild.
KateTheGreatest also threw in her two cents about the styling: “The dress looks bad, but I think she looks good, maybe because she looks a little softer than usual. Also, I’m glad it wasn’t shot by Testino, he’s gotten really awful.”
“I like this softer side of Cara. It’s very feminine and not her usual tough chick look. I like the hair and that stare is just wonderful. Having said that, that dress is unflattering and the colors are not appealing,” shared MON.
ThatGuyPaul felt a little uncertain about the cover, too, writing, “I really like this, however, the dress on the cover is unflattering and her head looks Photoshopped.”
Benn98 suggested even more post-production: “Wow, she looks really beautiful here, very accessible as well. Just not sure what’s happening with her cleavage (she’s not that busty),” he said.
