Our worst fears became a reality this weekend when Kendall Jenner was unveiled as one of Vogue Paris‘ October cover girls. Joining the likes of Christy Turlington Burns (below left), Kate Moss (below middle) and Gisele Bündchen (below right), Kendall tries to hold her own against the supermodel legends, fronting one of the four covers for French Vogue‘s momentous 95th birthday issue. Kendall was shot by David Sims, while Christy was photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Gisele stripped for Mario Testino and Kate allowed Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott access into her Cotswold home. So, which one’s our favorite?
Forum members went off on one particular cover. “Kendall doesn’t belong between the supers. The covers are overall nothing special, it certainly doesn’t look to have taken much effort to make these covers,” Nymphaea slammed right away.
“I rarely get angry but the fact that Kendall is among these names with the tagline ’95 ans de Légendes’ makes me furious. [Emmanuelle] Alt should be ashamed of herself,” added a furious anlabe32.
Forum member dcmaike didn’t hold back, either: “It makes me angry that they put this dull and untalented wannabee-model in a row with three of the greatest and most legendary models on earth.”
Also not showing much enthusiasm was nastassia, writing, “So no Daria [Werbowy], Natalia [Vodianova], Liya [Kebede] or Naomi [Campbell] but Kendall???!!!!!!! This is ridiculous!”
“Vogue Paris is really turning into Self Service. Not a fan of these covers. Gisele’s cover looks like a backstage supplement. And that is the best they can do with Kendall? Not that she is a good model, but I expect better from French Vogue,” said a disapproving jeffandtheworld.
