Our forums couldn’t fault Chanel‘s mainline campaign for Fall 2015 and we’re still enjoying seeing the beautiful black and white images inside our favorite fashion mags. But for the Cruise 2016 advertisements, Karl Lagerfeld decided to deliver something completely different. A departure from last season, out is the black and white in favor of some vibrant color photos lensed by Lagerfeld himself. Styled by Carine Roitfeld, models Charlotte Free, Stella Lucia and Kitty Hayes make up the casting and take things outside, giving us something colorful, fresh and new. Or did they?
Can Lagerfeld recreate the magic of last season? “Nice shot, but Charlotte Free looks horrible and also looks like an editorial from Teen Vogue or Seventeen,” complained burbuja8910 the moment the first image dropped.
“Quite a departure from his usual work. I love that he went outdoors, but it looks like they were Photoshopped to the background. I think the sea-green and purple look lovely, but other items look very cheap,” said Benn98.
Creative certainly wasn’t having any of it. “This is a new low. So CHEAP. Karl should get rid of Carine. The girls she chooses don’t fit. Chanel is slowly losing its prestige in the fashion world I think. Campaigns are sh!t, shows are sh!t, castings are sh!t,” he slammed inside the thread.
Also quick to rant was jescajade: “Gosh this is horrendous, it screams tacky. The casting is a bit random and the product doesn’t exactly say ‘buy me’ which is the point of these campaigns, this really is tragic.”
The newest shot from the campaign just dropped and may change your opinion. See it for yourself and let us know here.
