The November covers have been pretty uneventful, but V Magazine gives us something to swoon over with the release of its Winter 2015 cover. Shot by Dutch photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, Brad channels 70s style icon and Hollywood legend Robert Redford in a series of classic black and white portraits — and we’re sold.
“Robert Redford looks super young here! Oh wait…” laughed bilQuis the moment the cover dropped.
“Yeah the Redford reference is clear. Honestly this is the best I’ve seen him since I can remember. Thank god he dropped that horrible long hair-beard look,” added Marc10, loving the gimmicky reference to the shoot.
Also sharing great enthusiasm toward the cover was Kanna: “Both covers and the accompanying ed are all great. Really love it when Inez & Vinoodh shoot portraits, especially in black and white.”
MON shared the same sentiments, raving, “Inez & Vinoodh, you’ve done it again! Stunning portraits! I love the setting play as well. Brad looks so hot, my goodness!”
“Oh yes! This is great. Inez and Vinoodh are just sensational, they take the best portraits. This feels like old school V Magazine to me, I love the use of red on the cover – it’s simple but effective. Great cover and story,” shared a delighted LastNight.
“References aside, Brad looks damn good,” chimed in TREVOFASHIONISTO.
Yet not everyone was buying it. “Am I the only one who doesn’t like this? The boyish haircut and all that retouching on a 50+ guy looks silly. I’d rather see him aged and natural,” ranted dfl-001.
