V Magazine‘s previous offering, which was guest edited by Lady Gaga, was pretty much a flop with our forums and we were only interested in seeing the title’s upcoming edition marking its 100th issue. The momentous edition was unveiled earlier today and in an unexpected move (though we really shouldn’t be totally surprised), the mag secured a cover story with none other than Britney Spears. Photographed by famed photographer Mario Testino, the American songstress looks better than ever as she stars on three collectible covers wearing threads by Louis Vuitton, Balmain and Fendi.
But for such a commemorative issue, our forums weren’t all too fond of the outcome. “Oh boy, I don’t even know what to make of this. She looks… good? Hardly looking like herself, but still. Plus, what’s with the Kim Kardashian styling and pose?” asked mistress_f immediately.
“Looks nothing like her on any of the covers. She’s such a random choice for the 100th issue,” complained SpeakThatJDunn.
In the same frame of mind was DutchHomme, echoing, “Why her? She’s not relevant.”
Forum member thatsfierce agreed, ranting, “Seriously? That doesn’t even look like her. What a random choice.”
Benn98 was quick to reason, “Britney Spears or Natasha Poly? These covers fail to impress me, but that just about sums up V Magazine‘s space in the fashion industry. Anyway, I’m fine with her for the cover. Very unexpected and more interesting than Gaga, Rihanna, Katy Perry etc etc.”
Discussion soon started to perk up. “Holy mother of God I thought this day would never come. I don’t care for V Magazine, much less for Testino, but YAAAAASSSSS MAMA. Finally a well-produced Britney cover. I still hope to see her on the cover of Vogue. Just for fun,” raved a delighted *ana*.
“I personally love it. I think she looks great and I really like the rainbow V. She has been on top form lately with her Vegas residency and she’ll probably be releasing new music soon, so it makes sense. Plus she’s Britney, so why not!” LastNight approved.
