She’s been on a brief hiatus from the world of fashion to concentrate on acting, but now Cara Delevingne returns to her roots for a high-profile advertising campaign (because who wouldn’t, right?). It should come as no surprise that Cara is, once again, fronting a campaign for Chanel. The Brit beauty starred in Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2015 campaign alongside Pharrell Williams around the same time last year. In this latest Karl Lagerfeld-shot ad, Cara showcases the iconic French fashion house’s new range of eyewear.
Members of our forums weren’t interested whatsoever. “Thought she quit modelling?” asked an unsympathetic GreyVetiver.
“I thought she retired,” mocked an uninterested Scotty, sharing the same attitude toward Cara’s comeback.
“She just looks like she’s trying to be cool, it’s just boring and terrible. It’s like they’re trying to appeal to the rich pretentious hipster crowd,” speculated squilliam.
Forum member kokobombon even went so far as to suggest someone else. “The caps. Though I would have loved to see Kristen Stewart wearing these caps, at least they’re fashionable not like the ones she usually wears.”
Benn98 wasn’t exactly jumping for joy, either. “I really want to know whether the regular, affluent, Chanel customer, presumably in her 40s, will look at the first and last shot and say, ‘yes, this is talking to me. I want these glasses.'”
“No one can say that Karl is not loyal to his muses/models/past it-girls… It’s rather forgettable but the video is cool,” acknowledged Lola701.
In the same frame of mind was justaguy: “The video is kind of cool, but campaign is pretty forgettable.”
