Teen Vogue has been doing pretty well for itself lately (June/July‘s bore aside) and at the beginning of the year was doing incredible, bestowing upon us covers with the likes of Zoe Kravitz and Willow Smith. Now, amid some major staff changes, Teen Vogue taps Tavi Gevinson as its cover subject for September 2016. Bringing in heavyweight photographic duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for the occasion along with the formidable Grace Coddington on styling duties, we’re on board with Teen Vogue‘s new outlook. Tavi wears Tommy Hilfiger on the cover and our forum members are full of praise.
“Amazing to see Teen Vogue stepping it up by using so many big photographers lately,” Miss Dalloway applauded the second the cover dropped.
“Very Edie Campbell. Good for them that they have I&V shooting for them,” added an impressed anlabe32.
Also quick to express their delight was MON: “I thought this was Edie. Anyway, I like it. I&V need to shoot covers of U.S. Vogue ASAP.”
“Teen Vogue becomes better than Vogue,” replied a stunned narcyza.
TaylorBinque shared the same enthusiasm, echoing, “Tavi has been growing on me a lot lately. I think she’s getting more mature with her age. Also the direction they are going for is delightful to see. I love how they are trying to promote that Anna [Wintour] is behind this new team but Vogue has become such a letdown.”
“I&V for Teen Vogue! It’s a coup for them, the magazine, of course. Not at all fond of this image, Tavi looks extremely young here (12/13 territory!). Interested to see the content!” said Benn98.
“Tavi by Grace, shot by I&V? I’m actually very excited to get my hands on this,” said an enthusiastic StylishDreaming.
ThatGuyPaul used the word “gorgeous” to describe the cover and we couldn’t agree more.
