Willy Vanderperre Replaces Steven Meisel for Prada’s Stunning Spring Campaign

has been Prada’s campaign photographer for decades. Recently, however, it seems the iconic Italian fashion house is headed in a new direction. Willy Vanderperre shot Prada’s Resort 2017 campaign featuring Jessica Chastain, causing forum members to speculate whether Meisel was getting the boot. It seems our suspicions have been confirmed with the unveiling of the Spring 2017 campaign, which was, once again, shot by Vanderperre. Models Saskia de Brauw, Nimue Smit, Jing Wen, Amanda Murphy and a whole host of others were cast for the adverts, set around various locations and split into different themes.

Per usual, the real question remained: were our forum members buying it? “It’s official! Goodbye Meisel hello Willy,” cried out GivenchyHomme.

“This is absolutely stunning. I’m sad Meisel is gone but if this is Willy’s result I won’t miss him for a second. Great colors, angles and perspectives in a minimalist Vanderperre way. Love!” screamed an elated anlabe32.

“These are gorgeous. Best Prada campaign in a very long time. I really don’t get tFS’s (and probably fashion’s in general) strange obsession with Meisel. When was the last time Meisel actually produced something truly amazing?” asked MyNameIs, admiring the change in photographers this season.

Also quick to show the campaign some love was GivenchyHomme. “I love it. It’s exactly what the brand needed. He managed to bring the clothes down to earth and make them desirable. The clothes look amazing, the models look beautiful, and most importantly the bags look good too. This is a very successful campaign,” he cheered.

Burbuja8910 liked the outcome too, echoing, “Great campaign, looks fine. Sad that Meisel didn’t shot the ads, but Vanderperre made it his signature style work for Prada.”

But not everyone felt the same way. “Love the photos and Willy but honestly I find Willy’s work for Prada so far all look similar. I will definitely miss the anticipation waiting for Meisel’s Prada campaign,” admitted Ed.
