Lorde Photographs Like a Model on Vogue Australia’s October Cover

After a total overhaul for September, complete with a modified format, bolder font choices and minimal text on the front cover, Australian Vogue continues to embrace its newfound confidence. Following Bella Hadid and Jordan Barrett‘s appearance, Lorde stars on the new cover for October 2017. Photographed in Sydney, the singer returns to Aussie Vogue after her triumphant July 2015 cover, for a dreamy and delightful shoot by Nicole Bentley.

Our forum members were divided over Vogue Australia’s latest. “It leaves me cold! The layout still looks amateur,” complained forum member MON the moment the cover came to light.

“The image is great but that layout still looks amateurish,” echoed Style Savvy.

“I was prepared to be disappointed and indeed I am,” kokobombon voiced. “I hate this styling for October, the layout is so amateur, and her hair is a mess!”

YohjiAddict shared the same sentiments. “The layout for the cover looks like the work of a lazy graphic design student, too much empty space and the way her name’s not centered kills me,” he complained.

Quick to defend Aussie Vogue‘s choices was AL92: “Now, while the layout irks me I must say the redesign inside is absolutely superb. It’s now a squarer format, and the detail and composition of each page, though stripped back and minimal, is arresting and flows seamlessly. Quite akin to a coffee table book which was very much the idea that Edwina (EIC) had in mind.”

“Amateurish layout aside, Lorde looks great. It’s been said before, she truly does photograph like a model. Really beautiful,” Nepenthes admired.
