Vogue Paris Takes a Risk With Rianne van Rompaey’s Bold, Garish November Cover

Paris opted for sophistication and simplicity with Cara Delevingne‘s chic cover last month. For November 2017, the magazine takes us on a completely different journey with an in-your-face image of Rianne van Rompaey, complete with bold, garish text. The Dutch redhead makes her debut on the French fashion bible, photographed on location by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. The team transports us to the city of Venice with Rianne sporting a vivid makeup look, a head full of curls and a pink Céline dress for the electrifying cover.

Members of our forums were taken aback. “I gasped when I read the title. I was excited to see Rianne van Rompaey! But when I opened the thread, I quickly lost my enthusiasm. What is this? Wrong pose, wrong makeup, wrong frame, fake background, that dizzy pink font…” Valentine27 disapproved.

“We have a winner! Definitely the worst cover of 2017! It’s so bad, it hurts,” cried a horrified jaybee0605.

“Oh for crying out loud… what a complete eyesore! Yuck! I would expect this from [Mario] Testino, but I&V!” Miss Dalloway exclaimed.

In agreement over how horrendous the cover looked was gazebo. “This is nauseating. Ugly as sin and completely irrelevant,” he stated.

Not everyone was so quick to complain. “I love it!! Honestly. It’s something different and fresh, give me this over an old, boring studio shot any day. Well done VP,” applauded [Piece Of Me].

“I love it too. Very fresh. Rianne’s eyes are so intense, they pop off the page,” admired liv4beauty.

“Giving me Guy Bourdin on acid and I don’t mind it at all,” raved zoom.

“I love it. It’s completely horrifying and garish and absurd… but at least it’s different and refreshing. It would sure as hell catch my attention on the newsstand. And I don’t see the complaints about the background – doesn’t look fake to me,” noted happycanadian.

The cover story is set to be a total must-see. Await the contents and join the debate here.
