Jessica Alba Does ‘Christmas in July’ on InStyle’s New Cover

We’re all for seeing a little bit of glamour on our favorite fashion glossies this time of year, especially when the majority of magazines tend to favor a more stripped-back beauty ideal (à la Porter‘s Anja Rubik cover). Yet InStyle gets summer glamour oh-so-wrong with the unveiling of its December July issue. Giving us just a little bit too much glitz is Jessica Alba, appearing exactly two years after her last cover for the magazine (which ironically gave us “sheer summer perfection“). Photographed by Anthony Maule this time around, Jessica wears a sequined Givenchy number, a bold red lip and a head full of curls.

Everything was just a little too much for our forum members. “Wow, it’s AWFUL! It looks like a little girl playing in her mother’s clothes, very late 70s early 80s but done in a very cliché way. NEXT!” exclaimed Bertrando3.

“Why her again? What is she promoting? Also, the photos are not good. She can’t handle the 70/80s look at all,” snarked RanThe.

“Nowadays you just can’t pick the worst U.S. cover of the month. They are all so bad,” slammed Srdjan.

Also not much of a fan was forum member GivenchyHomme. “It’s like this was selected for Jennifer Lopez and she didn’t show up. This look doesn’t suit her,” he said.

A.D.C couldn’t have agreed more, replying, “You nailed it right on the head… J.Lo would have worked these looks. Kelly Rowland too if they were ever that bold. A fashion magazine is supposed to take a woman and make her look amazing so what does it say when it takes an amazing looking woman and makes her look meh?”

“Christmas in July!” expressed blueorchid.

“Absolutely ridiculous,” bun-bun added.
