Vogue España November 2018 : Lupita Nyong’o by Luigi & Iango

Lupita Nyong’o Is the Victim of Bad Styling on Vogue Spain’s November Cover

Whether she’s covering Porter, Allure or American Vogue, Lupita Nyong’o photographs like a dream and delivers each and every time. This month, Lupita scores her first international Vogue cover, for the November 2018 issue of Vogue Spain. Shot by photographic duo Luigi & Iango, the current face of Calvin Klein’s ‘Women’ fragrance dons the all-American label (naturally) in the portrait cover image, with Juan Cebrian in charge of styling.

Yet our forum members weren’t so keen on the outcome. “Juan Cebrian is one bad stylist. Never really liked his work. Never able to catch his inspirations/references, definitely not a storyteller, not someone who knows truly about clothes and body. If for him this is epic, it just says a lot of how mediocre he is,” said GivenchyAddict.

“She’s always so beautiful. No need to wrap her head in silver tin foil. Great to see Vogue Spain putting a black model on its cover, and an undeniably black one at that,” remarked mepps.

“She deserved so much better. The post-production and the styling are beyond terrible,” said EstefaniaAbaddon.

“Aside from Lupita looking like a beautiful scared deer, I just don’t get the styling. The white lace makes zero sense,” dodencebt pointed out.

Benn98 was disappointed about the unfortunate outcome too. “Ugly cover, and that expression? Deer caught in headlights realness! I like her shoulder pose, but the odd space jacket should’ve been done away with,” he said.

“She’s stunning, but the expression ruins it,” echoed guimon.

“Whoa, didn’t recognize her face, WTF! Why mess with perfection! This should have been so much better!” Miss Dalloway said.
