UK Vogue August 2019 : Karlie Kloss by Steven Meisel

Karlie Kloss Returns to British Vogue for a Rather Refreshing August 2019 Cover

Ever since he took over the reins of British Vogue, Edward Enninful has surprised us with his cover star choices. From Oprah Winfrey to Madonna to Gigi Hadid and Naomi Campbell, we’re always excited to see who’ll pop up next. Following a vibrant Zoë Kravitz offering last month, Enninful adds Karlie Kloss to his impressive roster. Returning to the cover six years later, the Project Runway host serves good face in a Versace sweater and Bulgari jewels (courtesy of Enninful) before the lens of photographer Steven Meisel for the August 2019 cover shot.

Upon first look, some of our forum members weren’t blown away. “Boring. What happened to Meisel?” asked TZ001.

“Looks like [Mario] Testino under Alexandra Shulman. The garish lime green masthead, the middle-class styling and then Karlie. Not ugly by any stretch, but very underwhelming for a prestige Vogue edition,” complained Benn98.

“Another boring Meisel x British Vogue cover. Next!” commented Scotty.

Everyone else was pretty happy with the cover. “I love it! Karlie looks amazing, the green gives it a fresh, zingy feel. It’s a nice bridge between the summer and autumn issues. I would take a studio portrait shot by Meisel every month and be perfectly happy,” raved LastNight.

“I’m so happy that Karlie is back on Vogue and working with Meisel. Absolutely love this cover,” applauded apple.

“I for one LOVE the green in the cover. Really energetic and fresh. Love the cover, great picture of Karlie,” praised Marc10.

Miss Dalloway shared the same sentiments: “Love the green, it’s refreshing, and Karlie looks beautiful. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but for August I don’t need it to be. It will look great in print, too.”
