Not Even Jane Fonda Can Save Harper’s Bazaar’s April 2021 Cover

Despite our love/hate relationship with Glenda Bailey‘s Harper’s Bazaar, Samira Nasr has yet to make a real impression. Recent covers featuring Megan Thee Stallion, Awkwafina and Vanessa Kirby have fallen short. Now the magazine welcomes Jane Fonda to cover its April 2021 issue. Captured by Mario Sorrenti with George Cortina reporting for styling duties, the actress and political activist wears a black sequin Ralph Lauren dress in the stark cover image.

Once again, Harper’s Bazaar failed to hit the mark. “Ugh, the sad part is that without the ‘edgy’ hair and minimal makeup this could have been stunning. Spectacular, really,” said Benn98.

“Another dud of a Harper’s Bazaar cover under Samira Nasr, if you ask me. You have Jane Fonda, the dream team that is Mario Sorrenti and George Cortina yet the hairstylist ruined the whole outcome. The hair is atrocious!” expressed vogue28.

In the same frame of mind was bluestar: “I appreciate that Samira’s Bazaar is trying to be different from Glenda’s era, but c’mon, this is the result of having Jane Fonda and Mario Sorrenti? This feels very lackluster and just unappealing.”

“This just does not work for me. Her sultry expression comes across as sinister. She looks like a villain,” noted Summer Day.

Forum member jal718 described the cover as “absolutely horrific,” but do you agree?
