Lady Gaga released her fourth video from "Born This Way" ahead of schedule on her YouTube page yesterday and well, I like it. A country-inspired ballad about her relationship with ex-boyfriend Lüc Carl, Yoü and I seems like one of Gaga's most personal creations, and I've been fiending to see some soft fleshy parts underneath the pop star's over-buffed, robotic media persona. Yoü and I could maybe stand to lose the gimmicky umlaut in the title, but since it actually refers to the content of the song, I'll let this one slide. The rest of the video is pretty nifty: in one look, Gaga goes for tacky, mismatched lipliner; in another, she's basically bare-faced, but with yellowy lipstick; but the video's best look might be the pop star dressed up as a mermaid, just chilling in the tub.
On a more unfortunate note, Gaga also goes drag for the video and then makes out with herself. Shocking? No, boring. At this point, the only way for Gaga to make a statement is to be herself, not kiss herself.
