Leonardo DiCaprio's Titanic role is the ultimate gift that keeps on giving. For about a year and a half over a decade ago, in 1997, Leo was the world's dreamiest dreamhunk. Little girls all across the US wiled away their lunch hours and recess breaks mooning over the star of that year's biggest blockbuster. Take it from me; I was there. Titanic might have been an over-hyped disaster of a film, but people couldn't stop praising it: for about two years, millions—maybe billions!—of people were convinced that it was a new masterpiece of modern cinema, and that its studly star was the stud of our time, a Jimmy Stewart or Marlon Brando for the end of the millenium. The 90s were weird.
And even though Titanic hasn't turned out to be the timeless classic we once thought it was, Leo DiCaprio has been riding its gravy train for almost fifteen years, now. The actor has managed to have his pick of some of the world's most attractive women: mostly supermodels like Bar Refaeli and Gisele Bundchen. And on the basis of what? Leonardo's short, not extremely handsome or charismatic (he's no George Clooney), and overall he's just kind of a schlep. And even though he's recieved plenty of (deserved) critical acclaim for his work in films like Catch Me If You Can, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed, Blood Diamond, he's best known for playing Titanic's Jack Dawson: foolish, sweet, courageous Jack. And that's as good a reason as any to date him: who wouldn't want to experience a fling with the hero of the not-greatest love story ever told?
Erin Heatherton certainly does. Leo's new model girlfriend (another Victoria's Secret Angel because why not, if you can swing it?) is twenty-two years old, which means she was about eight years old—and very impressionable—at the time of the Titanic hoopla. And she's just one of the millions of beautiful women around the world that were raised on Leo DiCaprio hero-worship. In the past year alone, Leo's been linked to actress and Chanel muse Blake Lively and models Madalina Ghenea, Alyce Crawford, Kendal Schuler, and Karlie Kloss. He should start a talent agency.
