Even though you still won't be allowed to steal the clothes off the runway next season at New York Fashion Week, there will actually be some designer offerings that'll be freefreefree to enjoy to your heart's content (only if the rental period doesn't expire first). The Fashion Center Business Improvement District is introducing free bike shares all around the garment district for New York Fashion Week attendees, and before you get worried about some super-ugly mountain bike clashing with impeccable NYFW outfits, don't fret: each bike will be handmade by vintage-inspired Bowery Lane, and customized by a star-studded roster of designers. As we speak*, Diane Von Furstenberg, Isaac Mizrahi, Elie Tahari, Nanette Lepore, and Rebecca Taylor are making their mark on a fleet of two-wheelers, and the bikes will be available to rent to anyone hoping for a more wallet and environment-friendly way to get around from show to show. Cyclists will have to leave their credit card numbers as insurance against damages or theft, so don't even think about taking one home with you.
*Can't confirm that, but it's possible.
