If you'd been dreading November, Vogue Italia has dreamt up a way to make the grim month seem a little brighter. For the November issue, Steven Meisel shot Raquel Zimmermann for the magazine's cover and main editorial spread. Titled The A Line, the editorial relies heavily on 80s styling to match the NYC subway setting. Changing from one high fashion costume to another from page to page, Raquel plays a grifter-type that can't help standing out even though she wants to blend.
Everything about this editorial is outstanding, from the glorious outfits to Raquel's sulky attitude. I want to hate the apparant Lady Gaga inspiration and the almost stereotyped portrayal of New York City subways, but the editorial has too light a touch. Like any great fashion feature, it just makes me want to get dressed up and make no apologies.
