Paving the way for an whole new model of designer collaborations, Christian Louboutin is joining forces with legendary Parisian cabaret, Crazy Horse. The French shoe designer is working with burlesque dancer and choreographer Patricia Folly to create a series of performances which will run from May 5 through May 31, under the name Feu.
“Because of what I do, for these numbers I concentrated on the lower half of the body more than the top,” Louboutin told WWD. “The language of legs can express any and every feeling.”
Not, I think, coincidentally, Frederick Wiseman's new fly-on-the-wall documentary about the Crazy Horse cabaret opened yesterday in Manhattan. In a review of the film for The New York Times, A.O. Scott writes that "Crazy Horse…offers a particularly French blend of sophistication and vulgarity," a statement which could just as easily describe Louboutin's line of red-soled shoes.
