During the Spring 2012 season, Minaj and Wintour sat together at both Oscar de la Renta and Carolina Herrera, sparking rumors that the singer was destined to appear on the cover of Vogue. Even though that never came to pass, Wintour did let Minaj sneak into the magazine last month in a spread by Steven Klein: taking a cue from the Smurfs, X-Men‘s Mystique, Arrested Development‘s Tobias Fünke, and The Blue Man Group, the Vogue team decided to paint Minaj blue.
