At first the 19-year-old Victoria’s Secret model seems an odd choice of ambassador for a surf brand that’s as Australian as Vegemite and VB. Particularly when you look at the lineup of previous Mambo ambassadors, which includes Jodhi Meares, Cheyenne Tozzi, Jess Gomes and Ashley’s sister Jess Hart. But she translates into backwards caps and denim cut-offs as well as she does ludicrously expensive push-up bras, and does an admirable job of not appearing anemic in comparison to her bronzed yoga-loving counterpart.
Mambo’s managing director Angus Kingsmill says of the choice, “We think it’s a phenomenal mix, teaming the best of Australia with the best in the world as Mambo chases global domination. Both are fantastic, fun and ridiculously attractive girls. Perfect Mambo goddesses.” Palvin adds that the Mambo guys have promised to take her surfing next time she finds herself on our shores, which will probably be later this year.
The campaign was shot in the Venice Beach, California by Los Angeles-based photographer Jason Lee Parry. The rest of it drops in August, but until then you can enjoy “Aussie Barb” dancing around in GIF format.
