"Man, it must be fun to work with Target's budget," is all I could think when I attended the launch event for its Threshold home décor line last night. Why? Because to celebrate it, the retailer built a life-size dollhouse in the middle of Grand Central Station. And not just anywhere in Grand Central — right in the middle of Vanderbilt Hall (cue confused rush hour commuters…).
The 1,600-square-foot dollhouse, which will remain on view through today, comes complete with a patio and lawn area. There are somewhere between 3,500 and 4,000 products on display in the house and, with few exceptions, all are available for purchase at Target.
Among those that I spotted meandering the faux abode were newly engaged couple Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent gushing about the kitchen furnishings (Berkus has designed a home line for the retailer), all of which were instantly shoppable via smartphone.
I was particularly impressed with the tapletop settings, furniture and the kitchen goods. Check out the new in-house brand here for some quick and easy ways to freshen up your abode on a budget.
