When the largely unknown Romanian model Andreea Diaconu appeared on Paris Vogue's June/July 2013 cover, I assumed she'd be back in the spotlight soon — but it happened so quickly, I'm getting whiplash.
A few hours ago, Diaconu Instagrammed a snapshot showing her cover of W Magazine's Trend Supplement, photographed by Lachlan Bailey, which runs the same month as her appearance on the front of the famous French glossy. Prior to this small burst of high profile editorial gigs, the Bucharest-born model had only appeared on the covers of Eastern European publications, with sporadic story assignments from various international editions of Vogue. (You can read a more thorough rundown of her career here.)
What seemed like a lucky fluke when it was just a Paris Vogue cover now seems like something which was more deliberately plotted. We should all assume that Diaconu has a very clever agent … one who's doing backflips right now.
