I know what you're thinking: Only ten? Yes. (My loved ones worry too.) But in the spirit of embracing a more ethical mode of consumption, I've been working hard to temper my wants and cultivate more mindfulness in my relationship to fashion. Why buy all fifty outfits from the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, if I'll only wear the vast majority of them once? When you adopt the right mindset, it can actually be quite easy to harness your beastly desire. I am living proof.
Without further ado, my Victoria's Secret Show 2013 ~*Must Haves*~ list.
Classic Chic (as modeled by Candice Swanepoel)
When you commit to buying less, it becomes more important than ever to make sure you have enough high-quality basics to give your wardrobe versatility. As a single outfit, this adorable ruffled bra-and-panty set is perfectly cozy for chilling out around the house or running errands. But we love the fact that you can mix-and-match the separate pieces to create a look that's all your own. (As for the 52K ruby dangling down the front of bra? Don't mind if we do!)
Trendsetter (as modeled by Devon Windsor)
Again with the fab separates! As much as I lovvve the deep-V leotard (how daring!) and the beaded red leggings (handmade!!), it's the padded leopard-print bra and studded choker that really tie the whole look together. It's the perfect thing to wear for grabbing a casual after-work cheeseburger with your pals. Don't skimp on the bacon!
Barely Legal (as modeled by Cara Delevingne)
This might look like athletic wear, but obviously it's not appropriate to wear something like this out on the field. This is the kind of look I might don if I were meeting with my lawyer to draft a will or file for divorce (I'd have to get married first, but whatevs). This sporty little romper is the perfect way to project confidence and competence without looking like you're trying too hard or care much about your appearance.
Meet the Parents (as modeled by Constance Jablonski)
It might seem a little out there, but whenever you need to make a good first impression, you best give people a taste of your distinctive sense of style. If his parents can't love you for who you are, well, that's their problem, isn't it? And this look is especially cool because the hanging fringe doubles as a duster. Who wouldn't want such a considerate lady in their child's life?
Snowbunny (as modeled by Doutzen Kroes)
Baby, it's cold outside and it's only going to get colder. This cozy fur stole will keep you warm all winter long. And it's beach-friendly, in case you're planning a tropical vacation.
Weekend Brunch (as modeled by Doutzen Kroes)
Casual, cute, comfortable — this is the perfect thing to wear to ladies brunch. I can already see myself guzzling Bloody Marys and gossiping with my friends about Susie (who does she think she's trying to fool by pretending she's not homeless? We're not dumb!).
Profesh (as modeled by Karlie Kloss)
At work, the most valuable attribute is a good attitude. Not only should you do your own job well, you should make everybody's job easier! One way to do that is by spreading cheer. Turn your office into a magical rainbow of delight, and you're sure to get noticed.
Obviously, you have to invest in a great bag. Backpacks are really 'in' right now.
For Him (as modeled by Ming Xi)
Of course, I'm a very strong, independant woman, but I do what I can to keep my man happy, you know what I'm saying? This outfit might be a little va-va-voom, but what happens behind closed doors is between me, my cat and my preacher.
Dentist Visit (as modeled by Taylor Swift)
Fingers crossed this one isn't just for the runway! I need something to wear to the dentist.
