Kate Pecks Revives the Mullet Dress on the Logie Awards Red Carpet

When you have to Google an awards show to remind yourself what it actually honours people for, it’s probably a sign you shouldn’t get too amped about what the attendees are wearing. The 2014 Logie Awards in Melbourne over the weekend were no exception to this rule, churning out alarming amounts of stretch lace and thigh-high splits—a feat which is in itself worthy of an accolade.

But it wasn’t all daytime television glam. One person who managed to catch our attention for the right reasons was model and MTV VJ Kate Peck, who worked the red carpet in an asymmetric monochrome number. Sure, she has an upper hand owing to her youth and exceptional DNA, but props are certainly deserved for proving the mullet dress isn’t dead yet.

The bold stripes and structured ruffles on her Arthur Galan piece are everything this silhouette needed, and the strappy sandals she’s wearing are further evidence that closed-toe pumps have had their moment. Beauty-wise, the gelled peroxide hair and smoky eyeliner complement this look perfectly. Who said mullets and fauxhawks couldn’t be friends?
