Museums are calm and tranquil places, the type of atmosphere perfect for your afternoon yoga class, if that was ever an option. Luckily for us, Canadian lifestyle and activewear brand Lolë is making the very idea a reality by bringing its 2014 White Tour to the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
Last year, the White tour was held at the city's Fort York National Historic Site, where two thousand people, all dressed in white, practiced for peace in the great outdoors. Now it’s coming to the ROM as part of a five-city tour that will also include Barcelona, New York, Montreal (the brand’s hometown) and Edmonton.
The large scale event that’s proven hugely popular with seasoned yogis and beginners alike, will kick off in Barcelona at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya on April 12. It will then proceed to Montreal’s Museum of Fine Arts on May 8, New York’s Museum of Modern Art on May 22 and Toronto’s ROM on June 12, finally ending in Edmonton at a soon-to-be unveiled location.
The yoga sessions themselves will be set to live symphony music as participants practice their favourite yoga poses (ahem, happy baby) under the guidance of celebrated instructors while dressed all in white–a color symbolic of peace.
Tickets cost $25, but that includes the signature Lolë yoga mat, which participants can keep after this memorable experience. I personally think this is a pretty sweet deal, not only because entry into the ROM alone runs $16, but can you think of anything more unique than downward dog beneath a long necked sauropod skeleton? Exactly. Now go find that inner peace…
