Wait — Fashion’s Night Out Is… Back? For Real?

Fashion’s Night Out became a highly anticipated social event for the fashion masses after its launch in 2009. Whilst originally designed to drive sales and boost the revenue in more austere times, the event itself became a cherished mini-festivity centered around shopping, shopping, and more shopping (or else simply wandering around, doing a bit of star spotting).

Though in 2009, sales at FNO were a pleasant surprise — with Burberry recording a 15% increase and other stores seeing vast profits also — the crowds of 2012 were extreme and the parties far more exclusive than they had previously been, so the organizers of the event at Vogue tried out a new approach last year.

As Alexandra Shulman said in Vogue today: “After successfully transplanting the initiative to Manchester last year to share the experience with a new audience, we’re returning Fashion’s Night Out to London, focusing on Oxford Street and Regent Street in recognition of all the new retail activity … we’re looking forward to thousands of shoppers joining us in the great mix of department stores, high-street and designer brands.”

As Vogue announced today, this year’s Fashion’s Night Out will have the staff dotted around with famous designers and fashion insiders to make sure the night is a success. This year also sees Paris, New York, Delhi, and Beijing joining in on the madness.
