‘Scandal’ and The Limited to Release Clothing Line This Fall

Scandal fans have a lot to look forward to this fall. Besides the return of the soapy primetime drama (and an end to all those horrible camera angles they used to hide Kerry Washington‘s baby bump), The Limited has partnered with the show on a clothing line, due to hit stores in late September. With the help of Washington, Scandal costume designer Lyn Paolo and The Limited’s head of design Elliot Staples, the retailer is brining a collection inspired by the wardrobe of Olivia Pope, who has some of the most coveted style on Primetime TV. This range is being billed as the first time that a leading lady, costume designer and retailer have come together on a project like this one.

You can tune in every Thursday to see Pope handling situations and getting hot and heavy with the President in a parade of Armani, Prada and Dior duds. But since not everyone is working with the salary of a D.C. fixer, The Limited is bringing the same sharp quality of Pope’s look to the collection at more accessible price points. Items from the 42-piece collection will cost you between $49 and $248–and Kerry will also wear some of the clothes from the collection on the show.

But don’t expect to see affordable versions of some of Pope’s more expensive pieces. “We weren’t inspired by any designers in particular because they are all original pieces that are authentic to the character and the world of the show,” Washington explained to WWD. Do expect lots of feminine, tailored separates, in inoffensively neutral tones. “The collection is outfit driven while remaining easy to mix and match,” said Staples. “Olivia Pope’s signature wardrobe is well represented by tailored wide leg trousers, separate jackets with strong lines and signature trims, chic feminine blouses, and heroic outerwear pieces. Our plaid round collar cape seamlessly translates television to reality and captures the true essence of the consistent sophistication and style that Olivia Pope represents for confident women everywhere.”

Can’t wait to see the whole line in full! This collection is about to make Halloween costume shopping a lot easier for Scandal fans.
