An Unretouched Vanessa Hudgens Fronts Bongo’s Fall 2014 Campaign

Earlier this year, American Eagle unvieled a completely unretouched underwear campaign for its aerie brand, and it seems Bongo is following in its footsteps with this latest set of ads featuring Vanessa Hudgens. Hudgens has posed for the brand before, but this time is different–this latest set of campaigns rolling out will feature unretouched images of the actress.

Billing the campaign as showing “the real Vanessa Hudgens,” the images do look pretty natural–you can see the actress’ pores, her waist doesn’t appear to be slimmed down and none of her limbs have been egregiously chopped off. Besides the makeup and hair, the images are all Vanessa.

The campaign aims to inspire young girls to love their features as they are–an important lesson considering certain retailers are “mistakenly” Photoshopping thigh gaps on already-skinny juniors models. Hudgens herself seems stoked about the project and posing for the camera sans filter: “This is my second season working with Bongo and it’s been such a treat! The clothes really make me feel carefree and confident, which is why I love that the final ad images are unretouched. It’s so important for girls to remember that real beauty shines from within and I’m so proud that Bongo is choosing to send such a positive message with this campaign.”
