Model Ataui Deng Has Been Missing for 10 Days [UPDATED]

Ataui Deng, a 22-year-old Sudanese model (full name Ataui Deng Hopkins), was reported missing today. Her friend and fellow Sudanese model Ajak Deng posted an image on Instagram, saying that Ataui has been missing for the past 10 days, last seen in Manhattan.

You will recognize Ataui from her appearances in Rihanna‘s Spring and Summer 2013 River Island campaign, Kenzo‘s Spring 2011 campaign, Benetton‘s Spring 2010 campaign (which she appeared in with her friend Ajak) as well as ads for Express and Catherine Malandrino. Ataui is a runway regular, having walked for Vivienne Westwood, Hermes, Jean Paul Gaultier, The Row, Kenzo and several others. She’s also appeared in Harper’s Bazaari-DTeen VogueV and more.

Ataui is said to have been seen last leaving 251 W. 48th in Manhattan on August 6. She’s got deep skin, cropped hair and a slender frame standing at 6’1″ and weighing in at 110 lbs. The NYPD’s Crime Stoppers are asking anyone with information on her whereabouts to call 1-800-577-8477. You can also contact the NYPD by texting TIP577 to the number 274637 (CRIMES).

Ajak and a few of Ataui’s friends are additionally asking anyone with any information to email tips to [email protected].

This is truly terrible news and we hope that Ataui is safe wherever she is.

UPDATE: Deng has been found. According to Dazed, she’s been in an NYC hospital. Her friend, celebrity chef Roblé took to Instagram to announce that the model has been located: “I am very happy to report that Ataui has been found,” he wrote. “She is safe and sound. I want to thank all of our friends and followers and especially the NYPD for their swift and dedicated response.”
