The winning design, chosen from four finalists after a record amount of entrants, is a creation of Caitlin Holstock of Victoria. It’s inspired by Aboriginal art, with permission granted from the Wurundgeri tribe to showcase prints which were originally painted by esteemed elder William Barak in the 1800s.

The outfit comprises of a burnt-orange crop, beaded-clay bottoms, and a sunset-inspired design positioned on her back, which unfortunately makes her look like a human peacock. However, Tegan, who will be wearing the design in front of 3 billion viewers, is happy with the winning piece chosen by the Australian public and Sunrise viewers.

“They were all impressive this year, but this was one of my favourites,” Tegan told The Sydney Morning Herald. “I’m going to have to learn how to walk in it.” At least she didn’t end up with high-heeled ugg boots, like former Miss Universe Australia Jesinta Campbell in 2010, or as Crocodile Dundee like Erin McNaught in 2006.

Now all we can do is wait for the excitable and controversial reactions, when Tegan takes the world stage for Donald Trump‘s Miss Universe pageant in January, 2015.
