Cara Delevingne Appears in Die Antwoord’s Blackface-Riddled Music Video

With the help of Dita Von Teese, Jack Black, Marilyn Manson and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea, the group puts together quite a creepy, bloody, gothic video. While we’d like to forget the footage of rapper Ninja getting punched in the face, his mouth spewing blood, we get a break from the violence courtesy of Cara, who pantomimes, poses with a toy gun, smooches and jumps on the rapper’s back during her cameo.

Despite all the blood, the video is all well and good until we see an image of a white man in (very bad) blackface and an afro wig. Of course, this video wouldn’t be complete without a little dose of good, old-fashioned minstrelsy! Die Antwoord is known for their provocative “shock” brand of “rap” music, so we think they added this unnecessary bit of casual racism because, why not? After all, blackface is an American thing, so it’s totally OK to do it if your music video is being released in the U.K.

Seems to fit with the theme at any rate because nothing is uglier than a white man in blackface.
