Los Angeles Film Critics Association Honors ‘Boyhood’ and ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’

The Los Angeles Film Critics Association just unveiled its award winners for this year, and the list features quite a few of the New York Film Critics Circle’s picks. Both awards are noted Oscar predictors, so the similarity of the honorees lends even more credence to possible Oscar nominations in several categories. Unlike other awards, however, the Los Angeles Film Critics Association also breaks down the runners-up in the main categories.

Boyhood once again nabbed best picture with director Richard Linklater scoring a best director nod. Patricia Arquette was also nominated, but in the best actress category as opposed to her previous win in the best supporting actress field for the same role. The runner-up for best actress was Julianne Moore for her turn in Still Alice. J.K. Simmons racked up another best supporting actor victory for Whiplash, but best actor went to Tom Hardy for Locke. Awards will be handed out on January 10 in Los Angeles.
