Cathy Horyn Joins The Cut as Critic-at-Large

Did you miss Cathy Horyn since she left her post at The New York Times last February? So did we. The legendary critic departed to help care for her ailing partner, Art Ortenberg, who soon passed after her exit. Horyn has been working on a book for Rizzoli, but now has another project on her plate. WWD reveals that the critic will be lending her talents to New York Magazine‘s The Cut, covering the fall and spring runways in New York and Paris.

Horyn will be The Cut’s critic-at-large this year, with potential for her contract to be extended into 2016. Horyn won’t be able to write about fashion for anyone else during her tenure, though she is allowed to work on her book.

This morning, the fashion world was buzzing with the news that the beloved critic would be returning to Fashion Week. Horyn tweeted, “People, let’s meet at the circle of love…I mean, NY Fashion Week! Pleased to say I’ll be covering shows @TheCut.”

We can’t wait to hear Horyn’s fresh, sometimes biting, point of view on this (and next) season’s collections.
