The CLIO Image Awards Recognize Patrick Demarchelier

Patrick Demarchelier will receive a Lifetime Achievement nod from the CLIO Image Awards this year. The ceremony will take place on May 5 at The Plaza Hotel in New York City.

“For three decades, Patrick Demarchelier has shaped the way the world sees fashion and beauty,” said Nicole Purcell, president, CLIO, in a press release. “Capturing essential qualities of his subjects with boundary-pushing photography, his work presents a timeless vision of the art and industry of fashion.”

The CLIOs is an international awards competition that launched in 1959 to celebrate high achievement in advertising across a variety of sectors, including fashion, sports, entertainment, music and health care. The Image Awards, now in its second year, is an extension of the CLIOs and recognizes creative work in fashion, beauty and retail.

Last year, the ceremony was hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen and featured Sarah Jessica Parker as an Honorary CLIO Image award winner.

This year’s panel of judges include Eran Cohen, chief marketing officer at Diane von Furstenberg; Patti Cohen, executive vice president of global marketing and communications at Donna Karan International New York; Doug Lloyd, founder and creative director at Lloyd & Co New York; Michael Morelli, vice president of advertising and group creative director at Ralph Lauren; Dave Peterson, creative director and owner at PMH; Patrick Ramsey, creative director at AERIN; Tim Tareco, vice president of visual merchandising, industrial design and special events at MAC; Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, fashion photographers and Catherine Walsh, chief communications officer at COTY.

“The CLIO Awards were already considered very prestigious when I started photographing for British Vogue and Elle 30 years ago,” said Demarchelier in a press release. “To receive the CLIO Image Lifetime Achievement Award is a very big honor. I am very happy to receive it.”
