We’ve known for a while that Gisele Bündchen would be leaving the runway game, but the model herself hadn’t come out to confirm her retirement from the catwalk. Now, the world’s highest paid model has come forward to say that yes, you won’t be seeing her turning down a runway for a while.
According to Bündchen, she needs to give her moneymaker, her impossibly long-legged and fit body, a little breather. “Automatically my body tells me if what I do is worth it, and it asked to stop,” Bündchen told Brazilian newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo. “I respect my body, it’s a privilege to be able to stop. I don’t see how to continue modeling on the catwalk.”
It certainly is a privilege to be able to stop – especially when halting part of your career probably won’t have much of a negative effect on your cash flow. “Stopping will leave room for other projects I have for myself,” she said. So don’t worry, just because she won’t be on the runway doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing a lot of Gisele. Quite frankly, we might get to see even more of her now that she has time to focus on these mystery projects.
