Get It Quick: Men’s Lingerie Is All the Rage Right Now

Sorry ladies, you are no longer the sexiest person in the bedroom. Men are loving lingerie just as much as us these days, thanks in no small part to an Australian brand designing lacy, silky and frilly smalls specifically for our gents.

French for “mystery man,” HommeMystere was created back in 2008 by Aussie couple Brent and Lara Krause because Brent was seeking a little diversity in his underwear wardrobe. In short, he was a little bit over the white-cotton briefs he was wearing day in and day out.

Now, around seven years later, New York Post reports that HommeMystere is experiencing a rise in popularity since it became available online this March. Yes, there is legit demand. Men’s lingerie could become a thing.

The couple now has customers from over 30 countries worldwide, with more than 40 per cent of sales coming from the US. The typical customer is described as male, married and older than 40, in case you were wondering what to get dad for Father’s Day.

“He has discerning taste in underwear and wants luxury garments, but does not need to show it off to others,” the site explains. “He wants something new and exciting to buy, and usually has the disposable income to make that purchase.”

The pieces, which go beyond your standard underthings and span to garter belts, stockings and c-strings, are believed to look and feel like your typical lingerie, just designed to fit the male body.

We knew androgyny was on-trend, but we definitely didn’t see this one coming.
