Reese Witherspoon’s Draper James Site Is Doing Quite Well, Thank You

Last week, Reese Witherspoon launched her Southern-focused lifestyle site Draper James, joining blonde thespian peers Blake Lively and Gwyneth Paltrow in the pricey clothing and knick-knacks online space. And it looks like Witherspoon’s venture is off to a terrific start.

WWD reports that on the same day Witherspoon launched her destination, a few of the items had already sold out. The top item for shoppers by far has been the $155 “Totes Y’all” tote bag, which has already been restocked. They also sold out of both colors of a $285 eyelet dress and all three versions of a $300 sundress with V-front straps. Today when we checked, the site was also sold out of the Solid Edgehill Dress and Printed Garland Tank in both magnolia prints. 

So the answer to “did we really need another celebrity lifestyle site?” has been emphatically answered by the public. Witherspoon’s twist of Southern charm has been a boon to her burgeoning business so far. Only time will tell if this success is just a flash-in-the-pan rush of excitement for a new brand, or if she can establish a long-lasting destination to rival that of Goop, which launched in 2008.
