Peter Pilotto Wins First Swarovski Collective Award

Peter Pilotto has another award to add to the mantle as the label has just snapped up the very first Swarovski Collective award. The label competed against 14 others, including Prabal Gurung, Mary Katrantzou, Iris van Herpen, Rodarte and more. Peter Pilotto incorporated Swarovski crystals into the Spring and Fall 2015 collections, using various textures and materials to build on its well-known print aesthetic. By combining crystals with materials like lace and perspex pieces, designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos created clothes that still have that printed appeal, but with more of a 3D edge.

“We worked a lot on trying to create an appropriate setting. In the end, we created a type of silicon eyelet but without a hole that worked really well. We liked the flashy silver rings beside the Swarovski crystal as it had a fun element – sort of refreshing a classical component,” Pilotto told Vogue UK.

The label will take home about $28,610 (25,000 euro), which according to WWD it will use “for fabric research and manufacturing, and to experiment with new techniques and work with suppliers they admire.”
