Gwyneth Paltrow Pays Homage to Her Fave Rappers By Designing These $2,300 Clutches

Gwyneth Paltrow wants you to know that she’s a cool mum, not a regular mum.

The goddess of Goop is at it again, leaving her indelible mark on something that is better left alone. This time round, she’s taking on designer clutches and emblazoning them with the names of her favourite rappers, because if you didn’t know already, she is d-o-w-n, down with her rap music.

The lifestyle guru has partnered with high street handbag designer Edie Parker, and produced two rather mind-boggling, blinged out clutches. The handbags will set you back just over $2300 AUD ($1695 USD) and can be purchased from her website Goop, but be warned: these unwanted throwbacks feature some pretty odd pairings.

The first clutch, a marbled, blue acrylic mess features the names Tupac and Biggie Smalls, who confusingly enough wouldn’t be seen on the same coast let alone the same designer purse, and both of whom died from gunshot wounds around a year apart in the 90s.  Oh and the rappers’ names are shortened to Pac and Biggie in red and white lettering.

The second design is sleek and black with cringeworthy diamond and gold styled lettering with the names Hov and Shady on either side, known to those in ‘the mainstream’ as Jay Z and Eminem. While the two artists have worked together in the past, this still makes for a rather odd coupling that should perhaps be consciously uncoupled, like ASAP.

I guess we can add this to the Gwyneth basket. The homage is out of touch but not really unexpected from the woman who wants to teach us how to yawn. That being said, we won’t be surprised to see her A-list pal Beyoncé sporting a Hov clutch in the not so distant future.
