Lisa Hyde’s The Bachelor S3, Ep 3 Low-Down: Gender Stereotypes, Mascara and First Kisses

Tonight things kick off with the ladies all sitting together in the dining area, seeming to get along as they “casually” chat about how sad it was to see three girls leave the mansion at the last rose ceremony.

I would love to say “C’mon girls, you should be happy that the numbers are getting smaller,” but, the truth is, although you want to find love and be the last girl standing, it is actually really sad saying goodbye to people you have become close with.

Osher comes in to gives the news that the bachelorettes get to choose who goes on a date rather than Sam, and, well, this is seriously awesome!

No matter what anyone says, of course you are going to be voting strategically. So, basically the girl who gets this date is chosen because everyone else sees her as the most unlikely girl to win Sam’s heart. Let’s be real, no one was really going to choose front runners Emily, Heather or Sarah, now, were they?

OK, it’s a tie between Sandra and Madeline. If it was my vote I probably would have chosen Sandra simply to get her out of the house for the day, but it’s Madeline. She wins the date.

It’s the morning of  Madeline’s single date and we throw to a quick intro to get to know her more. Oh no, suddenly it has become clear to me why the other bachelorettes thought she was the most unlikely to win Sam’s heart.

Madeline is preparing cupcakes to prove she is wife material, probably because she watched Season 2 and believes that this is how you win a guys heart. Oh no, Madeline, haven’t you heard The Bachelor from Season 2 was a complete dud? Sorry, Blake.

OK, so did anyone notice anything else about this date except Madeline worrying about hair and makeup? Look, I totally get it. You are on TV and you want to look pretty — me too — but you don’t need to mention mascara every five minutes! Poor Madeline, but it was obvious she was not getting a rose.

Snezana gets the second single date and I’m so glad that she did. There’s something about Snezana which I really like. It could be that her name rhymes with parmigiana, but she’s also completely likeable, so that helps too.

This date seems to be going really well, and it looks like they are genuinely getting along and she seems to be smitten. There is a romantic kiss and a rose and it’s now clear that Sam likes Snezana, and probably a good plate of Parmigiana too.

Tonight’s cocktail party was inspired by the 1920s, because fashion styles from the era where all about one thing — freedom — and tonight one of our beautiful bachelorettes will be free.

No, but in all seriousness, the ladies look absolutely stunning. So stunning, in fact, that it’s too hard to even pick a standout. Props to the hair and makeup team for such an amazing job tonight!

While everyone thought #analglands was sure to leave, real men understand that the kitchen duties should be shared equally these days and that it’s way more fun to choose a partner who wants to get a little dirty once in a while, otherwise known as letting your hair down and having fun.

So, it was time to say goodbye to Madeline.
