Only a few months since her last round of chemo, cancer survivor and 24-year-old actress Tessa James is championing her new look and attitude towards life in a stunning editorial for GRITTYpretty‘s Summer 2016 issue.
Donning simplistic, monochromatic pieces by the likes of Céline and Acler, plus a splash of colour courtesy of a fringed Albus Lumen scarf, Tessa tells the beauty publication how she is embracing her new appearance after losing hair during treatment.
“I actually love how I look completely different. I feel beautiful, which I haven’t felt in a really long time and I definitely feel more confident in my skin than ever before,” the former-blonde tells GRITTYpretty about being in front of the camera.
Even during the battle and hair loss, Tessa reveals that she was accepting of the changes that were happening as they were out of her control. “I didn’t worry about what I looked like because everyone knew I wasn’t well. What can you do about it? I was actually ok with being bald and felt silly in a wig, it just didn’t feel right.”
GRITTYpretty editor and publisher Eleanor Pendeleton tells theFashionSpot that she was “inspired” to tell Tessa’s story after learning about her battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma. “Fashion stylist Hayley Bonham and I really wanted to capture Tessa in a way she hadn’t been before,” she explains. “Tessa was an absolute delight on set and she radiates with beauty and good health in this ethereal editorial captured by Christian Blanchard.”
