Gwyneth Paltrow Announces Impossible ‘2016 Detox’ Diet and New Organic Makeup Line

Just as you were starting to slack on your 2016 diet resolutions, Gwyneth Paltrow has unveiled a detox to guilt get you back into shape. On her famous lifestyle website Goop, Paltrow shared a 7-day plan to give “our guts a break” and shed the “few extra pounds we just might have picked up at the end of the year.” She’s not referring to herself, of course, just the rest of us.

The diet plan is pretty intense, excluding gluten, dairy, corn, soy, sugar, red meat, white rice, shellfish and our favorites: caffeine and alcohol. But Paltrow promises the goal is not “starvation,” just misery. We kid. She’s allowing us to replace our beloved “wine, bread and french fries” with things like “delicious mung dal.” Yum!

She also suggests a colonic to get things started, as well as regular yoga, walking and spa sessions. And if the idea of a long walk followed by mung dal dinner seems downright awful, Paltrow offers plenty of motivational rhetoric. “This time of the year, we just stay the course,” says the accidental life coach.

Your 2016 Gwyneth Paltrow makeover also comes with a spanking new beauty regimen. The mother of two serves as creative director for a makeup line from eco-conscious beauty brand Juice Beauty. In an exclusive interview with Byrdie, Gwyneth called the collaboration “a dream partnership” since Juice Beauty ‘uses certified organic ingredients, utilizes solar power for manufacturing and forgoes animal testing.'”

“We’re living in an age where we’re all becoming more and more aware of the link between what we’re ingesting and adverse effects on our health,” Paltrow explains. “Ten or 15 years ago with organic food, people didn’t understand it, and now we have this mass movement. People are really understanding now how absorbent an organ the skin is—how when we put toxic chemicals on our skin, that it’s not good for you.” The line includes lip crayons named after her favorite beaches (Carmel, Venice, etc.) and lip creams named for her favorite wines (Rosé). That lip cream name will come in handy once you start missing actual wine thanks to her detox diet.
