55 years after Mattel launched Barbie, her evolution is finally underway. Just last week, the toy manufacturing company announced three new body types and 24 new hairstyles for Barbie’s Fashionista line. Now, the iconic doll is enjoying a high fashion makeover courtesy of a new exhibit produced by Les Cours Mont-Royal in Montreal.
“Barbie Expo” will feature over 1,000 Barbies dressed in feathered gowns and embellished dresses by the likes of Versace, Givenchy and Dior. The exhibit pays tribute to Hollywood glamour with looks that channel Farrah Fawcett, Marilyn Monroe, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor and more.
Touted as the “largest permanent exhibition of haute couture Barbie dolls in the world,” Barbie Expo opens on Thursday, February 11. It’s free to the public with visitor donations benefitting Make-A-Wish Quebec.
