If Disney princesses set our standard for beauty, we’re all screwed. The fairy tale protagonists are known for their flawless visages and hair coiffed to perfection. And not just for formal dances (ahem, Belle). Even Snow White would wake up with a face full of makeup including red lipstick that never ran or smudged. Talk about unrealistic.
A new illustration series by Isaiah Stephens on Cosmopolitan brings a dose of reality to Disneyland. Princesses get the “real woman” treatment with images that show them after they first wake up. They look groggy and disheveled, sporting bed-head, dark circles and even drool.
As for wardrobe, their ball gowns are replaced with old sweatshirts, oversized tees and wrinkled pajama sets. And two princesses have a steaming cup of coffee in hand.
In fact, the only Disney character who looks like her normal self is Ursula in a silky negligee. But we wouldn’t expect anything less from the underwater diva. See the full series here.
